What Makes You Break Is Definitely The Tick Of Your Canine Friend
Don’t you just hate it when your lovely mate, the only one who has given you comfort a six months, and the only bed-mate you have in a couple of months, has the tick? That is just gross. But what really pisses me off is when my wonderful pug gets the tick from some other dog. My beautiful Cherry B has the tick and it’s been the saddest two days of my life not having Cherry B on my bed at night.
An advice that you want to take to all you fellow dog lovers, your dog is never immune to tick even if he or she is not raised in farm areas. The best prevention is to keep dogs away from other dogs you are not familiar with. Another, is to brush your dog with anti-tick or anti-flea solution at least once a week. Some anti-tick solutions can still be effective for at least a month or longer. Do not hesitate to inquire from your veterinarian about the best prevention care that you can give to your dog.
If you find the tick yourself, you can remove it. There is the right way however on how to do it; doing it wrong will only hurt your canine friend. Removing it improperly might cause infection from the skin of your dog. It is not advisable that you take out the tick without any gloves on. There are some disease-carrying ticks that you might want to avoid.
As for my cherry B, I was not aware of any dog tick medicine that I can give her. What I did was brought her to the veterinarian.
For her tick bites, Cherry B was given the Newton Homeophatics Flea and Bug Bite, which is given to the dog through syrup drops. As for the dog tick medicine, a simple Frontline Plus was given and I was told to give Cherry B the medication for until six months. But I was told Cherry B can get back to my bed in three days tops, just to be sure the tick won’t get to me. It is impossible for me to drink Frontline Plus to let the ticks stay away.
Because of this, I was forced to be rid of my super fragrant dog shampoo and used Ovitrol Plus Flea and Tick shampoo instead so that the ticks wont get back. It’s not very per-fumy in scent but its prevention is better than cure.
There are also anti-tick collars for your dog which acts as a dog tick medicine. However, I heard it’s not very effective and it’s not very fashionable as well so I don’t think I’d go that far. I think my Cherry B has enough prevention and medication already.
